Luis Miguel Ciravegna Martins da Fonseca, PhD, is a Professor (Associate) at the School of Engineering of Porto (ISEP), Polytechnic of Porto, a researcher at the Associate Laboratory for Energy, Transports and Aerospace (LAETA-INEGI), Porto, and an Invited Professor at Porto Business School (University of Porto).

His primary teaching and research areas are Quality and Organizational Excellence, Business and Industrial Management, Sustainability, Social Responsibility, and Circular Economy. He also regularly publishes and reviews relevant Journals in these areas.

Luis Fonseca holds a PhD in Management (ISCTE-IUL, 2012), an MBA (IEP/ESADE, 1993), a Specialization in Quality Engineering (UNL/ISQ, 1987), and an Electrical Engineer (UP, 1982). He was President of the North Delegation of APQ (Portuguese Association for Quality) between 2015 and 2021. An ASQ (American Society for Quality) Fellow Member, he is also a Senior Member and Industrial Engineer and Management Specialist by Ordem dos Engenheiros (Portuguese National Association of Engineers).

Luis Fonseca was CEO (Director Geral) of the leading Portuguese systems certification body (APCER) for more than ten years and Vice-President of the IQNet Association, following a previous career (since 1982) as a Quality and Process Control Manager and engineer at several multinational companies.
